Health Canada Releases Updated Guidelines on Children's Sleepwear Flammability

In February 2019, Health Canada published the updated policy guidelines for the Children’s Sleepwear Regulations made under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). The new version reflects the current Health Canada policy which maintains the existing performance requirements with some added clarification.

The US FDA has issued a proposed rule to put into effect a final monograph for OTC sunscreen drug products, recognizing two ingredients as GRASE, two ingredients as not GRASE, and asking for additional data on a further 16 active ingredients.

US State of Maine Proposes to Designate PFOS as Priority Chemical for Reporting

The US state of Maine is proposing to designate perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) as a Priority Chemical (PC) for reporting requirements in certain children’s products. If approved, intentionally added PFOS is required to be reported within 180 days after the effective date of the final rule.
Andean Community Proposes Technical Regulation on Labelling of Clothing

The Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) proposed a technical regulation with indication of minimum labelling information to be included for apparel, accessories and home textile products. The Technical Regulation will be effective in 18 months after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Cartagena Agreement.
New York State Proposes to Regulate Toxic Chemicals in Children’s Products
